He enlisted on 26.9.1914 to his discharge due to wounds on 17.11.1917 and was awarded the Silver War Badge (no 271791) on 22 Nov 1917.
Son of Albert Painter, of 1 Union Street, East Cowes, Isle of Wight, Horace was a Stable Gardener before enlisting.
