THOMASVILLE, GA – Elizabeth Benton Chance, 88, of Thomasville, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, at her home. Private graveside rites will be held in Murphy Cemetery with the Reverend Julian Griner officiating.
Born June 9, 1934, in Thomas County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Willie Lee Benton and Beulah Estelle NeSmith Benton.
Mrs. Chance retired from JoanArt Mills as a seamstress. She was a compassionate lady who loved her family dearly. Mrs. Chance enjoyed making quilts, was an excellent cook, especially her biscuits, pancakes and chicken and dumplings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Franklin Chance, Sr.; sister, Doris Lewis; brothers, Larry Benton, Herman Sherrod, and W.L. Benton.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Horne and husband Damon of Richmond Hill, Ga. and Peggy Davis and husband Neel of Thomasville; son, Franklin Chance of Thomasville, GA; grandchildren, Stephanie Fielding, Tommy Harper and wife Kristie, Chris Harper and wife Mandy, Mackenzie Quesenberry and husband Quentin, Cathryn Young and husband Nathan; great-grandchildren, Kyle Harper, Noah Harper, Emily Harper, Sophie Harper, Abby Fielding, Austin Fielding, Phoenix Quesenberry and Griffin Quesenberry; brother, Alvis Benton and wife Tina of Norman Park.
