PORT ST. LUCIE

Miles J. Heckendorn Jr., 83, died Oct. 21, 2006, in Fort Pierce.

He was born in Petersburg, Pa., and lived in Port St. Lucie since 1960, coming from Port Royal, Pa.

He served in the Army during World War II.

Before retirement, he was business office manager for Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.

He was a charter member of Port St. Lucie First United Methodist Church and associate pastor at First United Methodist Church of Fort Pierce .

Survivors include his son, Miles J. "Skip" Heckendorn of St. Cloud; daughter, Patti Heffelfinger of Jensen Beach; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Heckendorn ; and sister, Martie Raffensberger.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 260 S.W. Prima Vista Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL 34983.

SERVICES: Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at Haisley Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Pierce. A service will be 10 a.m. Oct. 27 at First United Methodist Church of Port St. Lucie.
