On Saturday, April 15, 2017, Ralph Barrett Moss passed from this life. Ralph was born in 1948, the fourth child of the late Dr. John Palmer Moss, Sr. and Frances Williams Moss. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife, Bonnie McKinney-Moss, his faithful friend and companion, Jezzy, a giant white "polar bear" of a dog, as well as sisters, Anna Frances Moss Wilbanks (Ron), Mary Melissa "Mimi" Moss Boyd (Milton) and Letitia Claire Moss and brother, John Palmer Moss, Jr. (Jean), five nephews, one niece, four great-nephews and six great-nieces.

Ralph was a life-long Memphian who graduated from Idlewild Elementary School, Bellevue Junior High School and Central High School. He attended The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and proudly served his country as a medic in the Vietnam War. Returning home from Vietnam with a Purple Heart, Ralph worked as an orthopedic tech, then joined the US Postal Service, retiring after a full career of service.

Ralph was the type of man who never said "no" to a request for help and took care of our parents for years, coming by every day to see if there was anything he could do. He always took time to spend time with his nephews and niece when they were in town, and two of his nephews nicknamed him "The Superintendent of Vinton Ave." for his efforts in helping their grandparents.

With an apparently photographic memory Ralph was also our family historian and keeper of the memories. We will miss you sorely, Ralphie, but will hold onto the good memories.

In honor of Ralph's years of volunteer work at the National Ornamental Metal Museum, an informal sendoff will be held there (374 Metal Museum Drive) at 6:30 PM on May 6, 2017. If you have photos and stories, please come and share them with us.

Ralph's ashes will be sprinkled from the bluff over the Mississippi.
