Helen Elizabeth Williams
1925 - 2022
Our beloved mother, Helen Elizabeth Williams, 96, passed on to her heavenly home on July 13, 2022.She was at peace in her home with her daughter and grandson by her bedside.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, her parents Frida and Gustaf Johnson and her sister Ruth Johnson.
She is survived by her three children, Scott, Debbie and Ann and seven grandchildren; Pia, Chloe, Jordan, Presley, Porsche, Shelsea and Alisa, as well as twelve great grandchildren. She was known as "aunty Helen" to her nephews Mike and Randy and their children.
The daughter of Swedish immigrants, Helen was born and raised in Spokane.
She met her husband Harvey in their early gradeschool years but didn't connect again until high school – he at North Central and she at Lewis and Clark.
Raised in the First Covenant Church, she was active in church activities and Sunday school. She played piano, was a skilled artist, was active in social events and was a majorette. Along with some friends, she started their own sorority social club – "I ETA PI" ( the only status needed to join was to be a lover of "pie")
After high school, Helen went to work for the Inland Automobile Association in Spokane. She took pride in helping people plan their trips and always said she would have worked for free because she loved her job so much.
Helen and Harvey married and settled into family life, eventually moving to their South Hill home near Manito Park. In 1963 they moved to the Seattle area where Helen continued creating a wonderful homelife. She jumped into learning to drive (finally), making new lifelong friends with neighbors and being involved with her kids school activities. She was always there to help with school projects, music lessons, hobbies and encouraging us in all of our interests.
Helen's activities over the years included Bible study classes, Swedish language classes, family camping trips and hosting many birthday parties, Christmas and Thanksgiving get togethers and sleepovers. She supported and attended Harvey's track and field competitions as he was a major competitor in the Senior Olympics. One of her great joys was being an "Avon Lady" at a time when they had their own route. She became friends with many of her customers and always joked that she was her own best customer.
Helen asked that when her time came, to not grieve – she would be free and for us to "rejoice that we will all meet again in glory."
There will be a celebration of life on August 28 from 1 to 3 at her home.
