Possibly the son of David Purviance and wife, Margaret McKnight Purviance, of County Donegal, Ireland but not verified yet.

Arrived in US at Philadelphia PA port in 1754 per REAMAN, GEORGE ELMORE. "The Trail of the Huguenots in Europe, the United States, South Africa and Canada". London: Frederick Muller Ltd., 1963. Reprinted by Genealogical Publishing Co., Baltimore, 1972.

Married Margaretha Steven McIntyre in Paxtang, Pennsylvania, USA on 1 May 1758 per Pennsylvania, Lutheran Baptisms and Marriages, 1730-1799.

The family moved to the area near Rocky River Presbyterian Church in the late 1760's.

NOTE: 1790 Census shows them living in Mecklenburg County NC because Cabarrus County NC was formed from Mecklenburg County in 1792. They did not move from Mecklenburg to Cabarrus; their property was simple included in the new Cabarrus County when it was formed in 1792.son of David Purviance 1708- 1743

married Margaretha S. McIntyre May 01, 1758 Paxtang, Lancaster Co., Penn. they had seven children, some of whom were born in Pennsylvania, the rest in North Carolina where David moved his family in the late 1760s.
All records relating to David in NC were under the spelling of Purvians, although his children used both Purvines and purviance. The family resided in Cabarrus Co and were associated with the Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church.
