Frances Murphy, age 71, of Lenoir went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Caldwell Hospice, Lenoir. She was born November 26, 1947, daughter of the late A.V. and Eunice Bumgarner Smith.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil Barker; one brother, Allen Smith; five sisters, Nina Jean Earls, Ruth Dula, Connie Smith, Mary Jane Smith, Alice Marie Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are four sons, James Barker of Lenoir; Larry Barker of Lenoir, Roger Barker (Phillis) of Morganton, and Eric Taylor (Jamie) of Hickory; two daughters, Elizabeth Brown (Harold) of Summit AK and Michelle Abernathy (Roger) of Lenoir; one sister, Opal Herman; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Mackie-Whisenant Funeral Home on Saturday, November 16, 2019, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 PM with Rev. Devin Severt officiating. Burial will be in East Hudson Baptist Church Cemetery.
