Douglas Fairbanks Miles died on 1 September 2013 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home, Crisfield, Somerset Co, MD, at age 87.

Douglas F. Miles, 87, of Crisfield, and formerly of Saxis, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield. Born in Saxis on Feb. 27, 1926, he was a son of the late Reginald and Dorotha Crockett Miles. He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Navy veteran. While a resident of Saxis, Mr. Miles was a member of the Saxis United Methodist Church, served on the Town Council and was a charter member of the Saxis Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Anne Marie Miles of Crisfield; two sons, Patrick Miles and wife, Roberta, of New Church and Colie Miles of Saxis; two stepsons, Kendall Sneade of Crisfield and Robert Wayne Mason of Rhodes Point, Smith Island; four grandchildren, Stevie Miles, Jr, Colie Miles, Jr, Autum Miles Bridges and Susan Rogers; six stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Miles; a stepdaughter, Wanda Marie Somers; and two sisters, Gwendola Marshall and Rosie Smith. Funeral services officiated by Pastor Don Bailey will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Saxis United Methodist Church.

Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-7 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Ellis Cemetery in Saxis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Saxis U.M. Church, P.O. Box 94, Saxis, VA 23427.
