Doug grew up in Roswell and was a body shop and service manager for Chevrolet, before opening and operating Central Body and Paint in Atlanta; he later moved to Lawrenceville and established Lawrenceville Body & Paint. He was a member of Bold Springs Baptist Church and the Atlanta-Northlake Chapter of the Elks Lodge 78
