Lloyd Gene Hickey, 89, of Eldon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on October 18, 1932; a son to the late Clay and Cora (Vaughn) Hickey in Miller County, Missouri. On October 19, 1955, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Ann Buster in Eldon, Missouri.

Lloyd was a 1950 graduate of Eldon High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force for which he served two years. He began his career as a union brick and block mason and dedicated 65 years of his life to that work. Lloyd was part of many special projects around mid-Missouri including work on the Missouri Capital building, numerous veteran memorials, school buildings, and churches. He was proud of the work he did, and it is proven in the work that still stands today.

Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed being in the woods, hunting, fishing, and mowing his lawn. He did everything for himself if he was able, rarely asking for help. He also loved people. He enjoyed going to the barbershop in Eldon where he visited with his friends. Most of all, Lloyd was a loyal husband and father. He loved attending his sons' sporting and school events in their younger years and supported them throughout their lives.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn, of the home; sons, David (Janet Elizabeth) Hickey of Florida, and Randy Hickey of Kansas; brothers, Donald Hickey and Mitchell Hickey, both of Eldon; and sister, Jo Ann Moore of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Cora, and older brother, Howard Hickey.

Friends will be received on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Millard Family Cremation & Funeral Center in Eldon, Missouri.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Eldon First Church of the Nazarene.
