Seaman, second class, John Franklin Brown, United States Naval Reserve was one of forty-nine sailors killed aboard USS S-28 (SS-133) on 4 July 1944. The USS S-28 lost depth control and foundered off the coast of Oahu while on a training exercise. All hands were lost.
