BERGERON, Paul A. - Of Flint, age 85, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at Holly Convalescent Center, with his wife of 58 years and his family by his side. Paul was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on June 30, 1922, the son of Emile and Alexina Bergeron. Paul served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving aboard the USS Hector. After his military tour was completed, he worked at the Union Carbide in Sault Ste. Marie before moving to Flint, where he was a home delivery milkman for 31 years, distributing McDonald Dairy products as an independent owner/operator, retiring in December 1986. He was a charter member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, where he was a lector and usher, as well as a member of the choir. He served as a Eucharistic Minister, as well as a Stephen Minister for the parish. Paul was a member of the St. Leo's Men's Club and volunteered for the church Bingo. He was a charter volunteer for many years at the North End Soup Kitchen. Paul was also a member of the American Legion Post #310. Paul enjoyed traveling, bowling and gardening; but mostly spending time with his family. Paul married Arelene McKie on April 15, 1950 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Sault Ste. Marie. He is survived by his beloved wife, Arelene; 8 children, Randy (Theresa) of Au Gres, Paulette Spall of Grand Blanc, Daryl (Sue) of Swartz Creek, Lonnie (Polly) of Burton, Deena (Don) King of Middleburg, Florida, Barry (Carol) of Burton, Brenda (Keith) Wagner of Davison, Heidi (Brian) Vanderkarr of Burton; 20 grandchildren, Paul King, Ryan (Annie) Bergeron, Melissa Bergeron, Christopher Bergeron, Angela Spall (fiance' Patrick Peacock), Amanda (Chris) Stiff, Troy (Amy) Spall, Eric Bergeron (fiancee' Kattie O'Brien), Jessica Prast (Chris Smith), Nick Bergeron, Aimee Vanderkarr, Neil Bergeron, Tara Bergeron, Crystal King, Alan Wagner, David Bergeron, Kyle Bergeron, Stacey Bergeron, Zack Vanderkarr, Bria Vanderkarr; 5 great-grandchildren, Devin King, Gabriel Vanderkarr, Ian Vanderkarr, Kaylee Peacock and Skylar Stiff; 5 sisters-in-law, Rolande Bergeron, Marilyn Gibbs, Kay Hill, Theresa Bergeron, Lillian Bergeron; extended family, Pam (Barry) Wood, Marsha (Scott) Dennis; lifelong friends, Penny and the late Vic Savoie.
