Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Solon Southmayd Passed Away on November 11. Funeral Services Held at Brock
Mary Jane Southmayd died at her home south of Brock on Monday, November 11, 1912 after a long and painful illness. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Reid and was born January 12, 1852 in Ohio. She married Solon Southmayd on January 25, 1874. Deceased was a lady loved and esteemed by all – being one of those women of high character and refinement, yet of retiring disposition, devoted herself to her family and made their welfare and happiness paramount in her life. Mrs. Southmayd was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Brock and until ill health befell her she was faithful in her church attendance. In her dismiss the husband and children lose a devoted wife and mother and the neighborhood in which she lived a most worthy and beloved neighbor. Funeral services were held at Brock M. E. Church on Tuesday, November 12, her pastor, Rev. Trotter officiating, assisted by District Superintendent C. E. Petree. The Reveille joins friend in extending sympathy to the bereaved.
