Walter J. Bryant Jr., 82 years of age, formerly of Wayne County, Indiana, departed this life peacefully in the comfort of his own home in West Manchester, Ohio on Sunday, April 24th, 2022.
Walter was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky on February 11th, 1940, son of the late Walter Bryant Sr. and Mirley May Saylor Bryant. Walter was raised in the Baptist faith. Early in his working life, he worked seven years at Beckett's Elevator and two years at Geetings Auto Service. He later took a job at Dana Corporation, from where he retired after thirty years of service. Walter enjoyed going fishing, watching baseball, and taking trips to the casinos.
Walter was survived by two daughters, Peg (and husband, Stuart) Hachmann and Sally (and husband, Robert) Burton; two sons, Johnny Simpson and Timothy Bryant; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice Bryant and John Bryant; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Bryant Sr., who departed this life on August 18th, 1976 and Mirley May Bryant, who departed this life on October 9th, 1992; his loving wife, Helen M. Lipscomb Simpson-Bryant, whom he married on October 19th, 1957 and who departed this life on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2001; his longtime companion, Earline Sizemore; one daughter, Sharon McClain; three sons, Rickie Simpson, Tommy Simpson, and Dennis Bryant; three sisters, Jewel Begley, Hester Creech, and Mildred Bailey; and three brothers, Ulysses Bryant, Edward Bryant, and Billy Bryant.
Visitations were held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home in Fountain City, Indiana.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 in the Chapel of the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home.
Interment followed in the Willow Grove Cemetery in Wayne County, Indiana.
