John M. "Jack" Bond, Sr. 75, of Pilling Drive in Fonda passed away Saturday, August 20th at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

Jack was born in Amsterdam on January 9, 1947, a son to Duncan and Florence (McMahon) Bond.

He grew up in the town of Florida with his parents and brother, Robert.

He graduated from Amsterdam High School, Class of 1965.

After high school, Jack served his country and joined the Air Force in April of 1966 attending boot camp in Texas and later was stationed at Davis Monthan Tucson Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona.

Following his honorable discharge, he moved back to New York and raised his family in the house he built in Fonda.

Jack went on to work for General Electric in Schenectady and at the same time working with his good friend Fran Stanton at Stanton's Mobile Garage in Fonda. After retiring from G.E. in 2004, he worked several different part-time jobs including a security Guard for the Arkell Museum in Canajoharie.

In his spare time, Jack enjoyed fishing and camping but the highlight of his year was hunting season. Within the past few years, he harvested two trophy bucks that he was proud of.

He was a long-time member of Mahogany Ridge Hunting Camp in Oppenheim and the N.R.A. Jack was also a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club.

In addition to his father, Duncan, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Sandra L. (Dufel) Bond.

He is survived by his mother, Florence Bond of Amsterdam, his children, John M. Bond, Jr. of Amsterdam, Michele (Davey) Ball of Johnstown, Katherine (Jim Ackert) Bond of Fonda, Karen (Brian) Jezewski of Canajoharie, Christopher Bond of Hagaman, one brother, Robert Bond of Mayfield, 9 grandchildren, Ashlie, Lyndsie, Thomas, Breanna, Trinity, Brent, Nick, Logan and Debbie Ann, 4 great-grandchildren, Joey, Faith, Jaxon and Reed, also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
