Obituary of Joaquin Gonzalez Jr.
IN THE CARE OF

Our beloved father Joaquin "Chef" Gonzalez Jr. departed on Monday May 21, 2012 at the age of 86. He was born January 1st, 1926 in Mission, Texas to Joaquin and Cayetana Gonzalez. Upon his father's death the family relocated to Mexico where he met and married our beloved mother, Juanita Cruz Gonzalez. The couple moved to Houston in 1951 where he began a successful career in the culinary arts. In 1956 the couple relocated to San Antonio where he was chef at La Louisiane Restaurant. Joaquin garnered many awards throughout his career but the one he was most proud of was that of father to his four children. He will live on in our hearts and in the hearts of the many people that enjoyed his award winning cuisine throughout a career that spanned over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Cruz Gonzalez, his parents and five brothers. He is survived by two daughters, two sons. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. The family would like to especially thank granddaughter Veronica and her family for their loving care. "Lito" will be deeply missed as he goes to be with our beloved "Lita".
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00pm. We will depart the funeral home at 9:30am on Friday, May 25, 2012 to St. Paul's Catholic Church for a 10:00am Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
