A funeral service will be held Saturday for Johnnie Lee Williams Moss, formerly of Bay Way, Sharon. She passed away at 7:28 a.m. Tuesday (8-25-09) in Clepper Manor, Sharon. She was 81. A resident of the Shenango Valley since 1952, Mrs. Moss was born June 15, 1928, in Elloree, S.C., to Johnnie and Pauline Huggins Williams. She attended South Carolina schools. Mrs. Moss was employed at one time at the former Rio Kudelko Cleaners in Farrell; and San-DEE's, a children's day care center in Youngstown. As a charter member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Sharon, she belonged to the choir, the Mother's Board, the Missionary Society and the kitchen committee. Mrs. Moss was a member of the Red Hat Society of the Shenango Valley and was the grandmother of Sankofa House in Sharon. Her husband, Wesley Moss, whom she married Oct. 5, 1947, passed away Nov. 13, 1994. Surviving are: two daughters, Lynda Moss-McDougal and her husband Calvin, Sharon; and Sandra Robinson and her husband Denis, Youngstown; two sons, Joe Moss and his wife Cheryl, Sharon; and Charles Moss and his wife Marcia, Franklin; four sisters, Eunice Somerset, Farrell; Josephine Sellers, Santee, S.C.; and Rogener McDonald, and Eleanor Corbett and her husband James, all Detroit; a brother, Isaac Williams and his wife Jessie Merle; and a godson, Lester Somerset, all Farrell. Mrs. Moss also leaves 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Bostic; and two brothers, Paul and C.B. Williams.
