Sulphur- Betty Jo Brame, 77, died Wednesday, January 30th, 2008, in her residence.
She was a native of Port Arthur, Texas and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 65 years. She had attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur before graduating from Sulphur High School. While attending Sulphur High, she had been a cheerleader. She also attended McNeese State University. Betty was a member of Maplewood First Baptist Church and was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed watching baseball.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, James Brame of Sulphur; five sons, James Chester Brame and wife Carol of The Woodlands, Texas, David Charles Brame and wife Adrienne of Lafayette, Robert William Brame and wife Patti of Sulphur, John Thomas Brame and wife Leah of Sulphur, and Richard Brock Brame and wife Desiree of Lake Charles; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelly and Grace Whittington; and her sister, Mary Lou Buis.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 1st, in Maplewood First Baptist Church. Dr. Ronnie Burke will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Maplewood First Baptist Church Building Fund.
