CHELAN _ Tracy L. Craig, 89, a longtime resident of Chelan, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1993, in Regency Manor Convalescent Center following an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 17, 1904, to Walter L. and Jessie (Shaw) Craig, at Fairmont, Ill. At an early age, he moved with his family to California.
He married Ida M. Miller on June 4, 1926, at Napa, Calif. They moved to Chelan in 1932, and Mr. Craig worked with his father in the family ice plant and grocery store. He later purchased the business. He also operated a taxi service for several years.
He was a police officer and became assistant chief of police. He opened a second-hand store in 1959, and operated it for a number of years. He was well-known at rodeos for his expert trick roping.
He was a member of the Chelan Christian Church.
He is survived by two sons, Don of Bridgeport and David of Wenatchee; two daughters, Lillian Polley of Chelan and Joyce Jackson of Soap Lake; two stepbrothers, Barney Baker of Ephrata and Pat Baker; two stepsisters, June Clark of Puyallup and Arlene Winn of Tacoma; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Arrangements are by Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
