John R. Murry, Jr., 59, of 36 East Willow Street, Elizabethtown, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009, at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Mauritia Keim Murry with whom he was together for 23 years and he was the love of her life. He was born in Columbia, son of John R., Sr. and Betty J. Burkert Murry and stepson of Marie C. "Judy" Murry. Due to the death of his mother at an early age, he was raised by his Uncle Paul and Aunt Erma Murry along with their children: Beatrice, Gretna and Jim Murry. He was a truck driver for the past two years for Jagtrux, Inc., Marietta before his illness and also drove for Yellow Freight and Hall's Motor Freight. He was a graduate of Penn Manor High School; a member of the Teamster's Union for 25 years and the Son's of American Legion Post 329. He was an excellent mechanic, having worked at Keller's Garage, Columbia, and enjoyed working on cars. He loved being with his grandchildren; vacationing in Virginia; going to the NASCAR races at Dover, with Jimmy Johnson and Davey Allison being his favorite drivers.

Surviving in addition to his wife, two stepsons: Larry W., Jr. husband of Hope Ford, Halifax and Cleon Zercher, Jr., Bellefonte. Two stepdaughters: Modesta wife of Joe Zito, Mount Joy and Jennifer Zercher, Yorktowne, VA. Eleven step-grandchildren and two step-great-granddaughters. Two brothers: Jerry husband of Peg Burkert, Dover, DE and Jeffrey husband of Liz Murry, Denver. Two sisters: Jean wife of Dick Paulson, St. Cloud, MN and Judy wife of Gilbert Boxler, Columbia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dominic DiBiccaro, as celebrant. Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the Four Diamonds Fund, c/o Hershey Medical Center, 500 University Drive, Hershey, PA 17033.
