James Thomas Canter Sr. of Ferguson passed away on August 18, 2022 at Watauga Medical Center.
James was born on August 16, 1944 in Ashe County to Arvil Canter and Lillie Grace Hodgson Canter.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Arvil and Lillie Canter; five sisters and three brothers.
James is survived by his daughters, Jama Shepherd and fiancee, Justin Greene of Ferguson, Alisha Kirby and husband, Scott of Hudson, Janet Greer of Fleetwood; son, James Canter Jr. and wife, Maureen of San Antonio TX; sister, Reba Stanley and husband, Stan of Elkton MD, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday August 24, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Davis Memorial Baptist Church.
