LORAINE, Ill. -- Leslie Hurley Mixer, 80, of Loraine, Ill., died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 24, 1987) in the Grandview Manor Nursing Home in Camp Point, Ill.
Mr. Mixer was born on Oct. 29, 1906 in McKee Township near Kellerville, Ill., a son of Arthur and Adah Neece Mixer. He married Dorothy Ruth Deming March 21, 1929 in Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Mixer attended rural Adams County schools and the Maplewood School in Camp Point. He was a lifelong Adams County farmer south of Camp Point and later near Loraine, retiring in 1969. He was a member of the Loraine Christian Church, the "I Try-Sunshine" Sunday School class, Loraine Senior Citizens and the former Loraine Odd Fellows.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Vessey of Mendon and Mrs. Sanford (Hazel) Ash of Macomb; one brother, Orn Mixer of Coatsburg; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Mixer, one sister, Violet Kindhart and one grandchild.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Loraine Christian Church by Pastor Russell Corrigan. Burial will be in the New Loraine Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Curry Funeral Home in Mendon and on Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to the Loraine Christian Church and to the American Diabetes Association.
