Alberta Hazel Fethke, age 80, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at her home. She was born August 19, 1941, in Fayette, Missouri, a daughter of the late Gene and Alberta (Dick) Ellison. On December 4, 1960, at the Stover United Methodist Church parsonage, she was united in marriage to Lowell Cleo Fethke, who preceded her in death on March 3, 2020. Hazel was a graduate of the Otterville High School class of 1959. She was a member of the Florence United Methodist Church, joining the church in August of 1971. She attended Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg. She was an accomplished writer and author also publishing a book. Hazel worked at Golden Age Living Center and also served as board president for many years. She was a 4-H leader, served on the Health and Welfare board at the Morgan County Health Center in Versailles and worked election polls for many years. She was a braille transcriber, which led to her working as a paraprofessional at Morgan County R-1 in Stover. She is survived by her children, Cathy Holsten and husband Jerry of Florence, Missouri and Gregory Fethke and wife Luesa of Versailles, Missouri; grandsons, Schuyler Holsten and Alex Holsten and fiancée Julie Kidwell; her sister, Laura Pugh of Nixa, Missouri and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristin Harris, brothers, Dennis Ellison and Frank Ellison and her sister, Bonnie Crider. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 23rd, in the Florence United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Vonda Veale officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles
