On September 19, 1936, she was united in marriage to Sylvan Rudolph Mooney, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sylvan, on September 14, 2003; a grandson, Charles Richard Breeden; a great-grandson, Shane William Howe; a brother, Granvel Elston Gouge; and two sisters, Lucy Victoria Atkins, and Mary Katherine Logan.
Pearl is survived by two sons, Lenvil Mooney, and his wife, Hilda, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Gary Mooney, and his wife, Pat, of Richland, Missouri; three daughters, Lucille Garrison, of Springfield, Missouri, Linda Howe, and her husband, Jim, of Bolivar, Missouri, and Beverly Breeden, and her husband, Richard, of Waynesville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Brenda Miller, Melinda Lumley, Kelly McCann, David Mooney, Leslee Hicks, Brent Garrison, Stephanie Jernigan, Kim Quennoz, Jeff Howe, Cindy Holtz, and Kevin Breeden; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorene Ruth Pryer, of Boerne, Texas, and Irene Goldie Powell, of Appleton City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri. After she and Sylvan were married, they made their home on their farm, near Stoutland, and lovingly raised their children. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Pearl helped with the operation of the farm, and also worked as a sales clerk at Haydon's Department Store during the 1960's.
Pearl accepted Christ as her personal Savior in October of 1927 at the First Baptist Church in Lebanon. She and Sylvan then joined the Stoutland Baptist Church where they were faithful workers. Pearl enjoyed helping in Vacation Bible School, the Stoutland Baptist Church Camp, and having the youth in her home for good Christian fellowship, particularly gathering and singing around the piano. In later years, she and Sylvan moved their membership to Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lebanon, where they were active members for as long as their health allowed. They especially enjoyed helping feed the Fort Leonard Wood soldiers on Sunday evenings.
In her spare time she enjoyed growing beautiful flowers, working in her garden, and crocheting. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pearl was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for us.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 15, 2004, in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will be in the Stoutland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 - 6P.M. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
