Andrew M Elliott

It is with sorrow that we inform you of the passing of retired partner Andrew M Elliott. Andy passed away peacefully on December 02, 2021, at the age of 64, with his beloved wife Dianne and family by his side at his home in Charlotte, N.C., after a 21 month battle with Glioblastoma. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Born May 08, 1957, Andy graduated from Columbia University in New York City in 1979 and Syracuse University (SU) School of Management in 1985. He joined Price Waterhouse & Co (PW) in Syracuse, NY in 1985 following his graduation from the SU MBA program. He was admitted to the partnership in 1996 and retired in 2017.

Andy held various positions during his career, working first in PW's Management Consulting Services (MCS) practice in Upstate New York and then transferring to Boston in 1990. Andy's first PW success was helping to develop and lead a ground-breaking training program in Tampa, FL. More importantly, he met his future bride Dianne Burruss on this assignment, who also worked on the program. In 1998, Andy and Dianne transferred to Charlotte, North Carolina where they remained until retirement and beyond. Andy was known as a practice builder and helped grow the Carolinas Risk Assurance business from just 12 people in 1998 to well over 200 when he retired. He helped to admit many partners and is fondly remembered for advancing the careers of countless others.

Andy was an avid golfer, basketball player, and played college football at Columbia. He remained close friends with many of his Columbia teammates for the rest of his life. After retirement, Andy and Dianne traveled extensively, including a two-month dream stay in Napa Valley where multiple friends and family visited them during their stay. They drove across the country twice during their first two years after retirement and were able to visit many highlight locations, including The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Mount Rushmore, Palm Desert, Carmel, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, New Orleans, San Antonio, Albuquerque, and Elko, Nevada.

Andy is survived by his wife of 31+ years and the love of his life, Dianne Catherine (Burruss), his three children, Jake Thomas, Lauren Catherine, Charles Andrew and dog Piggy, all of whom are from Charlotte, N.C. He was a devoted son to Kathleen (Hopkins) and Charles Francis Elliott MD (predeceased and the greatest father of all time). He was the much-loved brother to Stephen (Kathy Kelly) Katie, Michael and Brian; Kathleen (Rick Cordes), Noah and Julia; Peter (Carlotta Leung), Mallory, Caleb, Lucas, Finn and Aubrey; Molly (Gino Malgieri), Maddy, Liam and Flynn; and Christine (Harold/Knuck Erbacher), Annie, Ellie, Brett and Gregory. He was the great uncle to Ryan, Grace and Luke Andrew, children of niece and Goddaughter, Katie (Elliott) Price, wife of Kenny. Andy had scores of cousins, aunts and uncles. He also is survived by father- and mother-in-law Elmer Owens Burruss and Catherine (Zellers), sisters-in-law, Michelle (Anna Stilwell) and Jennifer (Troy) Davis and nephews, Andrew and Matthew.

Andy is participating in the Georgetown University School of Medicine's Anatomical Donor Program and Brain Bank. Georgetown is the medical school alma mater of Andy's father, Charles. Andy is hopeful this will help aid in finding a cure for Glioblastoma.
