Thelma "Honey" Bassett of Palestine, Texas died March 15, 2006. Burial in New Addition Annex was under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine. She was born September 9, 1915 in Palestine to Sam and Annie Hamlett. She had a brother Allen Hamlett who predeceased her in 1950. Mrs. Bassett attended Palestine schools and graduated from high school in what is presently known as Reagan Museum. In the early years she was employed by JCPenney Department Store. Later she worked with her husband and together they owned and operated Bassett's Service Station until retirement. Mrs. Bassett and her husband have belonged to the First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed being an active member of the Victor Sunday School Class. One of her favorite past times was playing bridge. She enjoyed the fellowship with many friends. She also was a charter member of Harvey Woman's Club. Survivors include her loving husband of 73 years, Clifford Bassett; daughter, Judith Bearden; granddaughters, Lori Camacho and husband Joe, Lisa Green and husband David; and great-granddaughters, Kylie Camacho, Leah Green and Alyssa Green, all of Palestine.
