Mrs. Phyllis D. Young, 88, daughter of the late Everett Francis and Virgie Virginia Dix, passed from this life into eternal life on Saturday, July 23, 2022. She was a resident of Accomack Senior Village in Onancock.

She was predeceased by her husband, William T. Young Jr.; a son, Wayne G. Gaskins; two brothers, William Francis Dix Sr. and Dorsey Vernon Dix; and a nephew, William F. Dix Jr. Surviving are three children, Rita Hardison and husband, Ken, of Wallops Island, Barry Gaskins and husband, Kevin Stant, of Seattle, Wash., and Connie Owens and husband, William T., of Greenbush; five grandchildren, Amber Gaskins, of Nelsonia, Joshua T. Owens and wife, Brittany, of Laurel, Del., Tammy Watford and husband, James, of Jacksonville, Fla., Mindy Barber and husband, Kevin, of Jacksonville, and Stacy Chaback, of Jacksonville; five great-grandchildren, Zachary T. Owens, of Laurel, Tyler Hardison and wife, Holly, of Jacksonville, Laci Watford, of Jacksonville, Blake Barber, of Jacksonville, and Riley Barber, of Jacksonville; two nephews, Richard Dix and wife, Jackie, of New Freedom, Pa., and Irvin Lee Dix and his wife, Betty, of Parksley; and a niece, Rita Green, and husband, David, of Hobe Sound, Fla.

Phyllis was a longtime member of Zion Baptist Church in Parksley. She was a volunteer for seven years at Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, and for many years at Shore LifeCare in Parksley. Phyllis was a homemaker who kept very busy, but she always found time to bake a delicious cake for friends and family members. She had a sweet personality and was always ready to lend someone a helping hand.

A private memorial service was held July 29, 2022, at Zion Baptist Church.
