Mrs. Baker was born August 24, 1941, in Avery County, a daughter of the late Chester Lee and Hazel Clark Lucas.
Frances worked for Alba-Waldensian Textile plant, was the first secretary for the town of Rutherford College and retired after many years of service as the bookkeeper with the Waldensian and Bimbo Bakeries. Frances was a faithful and active member and pastors wife of the Morganton First Apostolic Church. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and was considered a mother to everyone.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Baker, and step-mother, Virginia Buchanan Reid Lucas.
Surviving, are her husband, Bishop Alvin Baker of the home, son, Daniel Baker (Dena) of Winder, GA, daughter, Susan Baker Hodges (Tommy) of Morganton and a sister, Ruth L. Horton of Rutherford College. Also surviving are the apples of her life, her grandchildren, Devin Hodges, Morgan B. Shew, Bradley Hodges, Justin Hodges and a great-grandchild soon by be here.
The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM Wednesday August 10, 2022, at the Morganton First Apostolic Church with Funeral Services to follow with Pastor David Bridges and Rev. Gragg Benge officiating. Interment will be in the Church of Jesus Christ Cemetery in Newland, NC.
