JAMES PARKER ALLUM was present at the surrender of General Lee to General Grant at Appomattox on April 9, 1865. In addition, he had served with General George Armstrong Custer. After the war he operated hotels at different times at Graysville and Waynesburg, both in Greene County, Pennsylvania, a hotel in the latter location known as the Allum House.
