Laura Gertrue "Gertie" Seymour, 94, of D'Iberville, MS passed away peacefully August 12, 2022. She was a member of Heritage Methodist Church in D'Iberville, MS. Gertie attended D'Iberville Schools where she dominated on the basketball court as a Lady Warrior.
In 1946, Gertie married Morgan John Seymour Sr. of D'Iberville and soon began their family of 3 boys.
Gertie retired from civil service after working for the commissary and the Department of Finance at Keesler Air Force Base. After retiring form Civil Service, Gertie joined the Hancock County Sheriff Department until retirement.
Throughout the years, Gertie enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She would always find something in common with anyone she met, whether it be meeting a long-lost cousin for the first time or just finding out they had friends or interests in common.
Over the years, she enjoyed sharing stories with her grandchildren of her childhood and life with Paw Paw Morgan.
Granny (Gertie) always had such a giving heart and her kindness never stopped. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Gertie was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan John Seymour Sr.; parents, Jesse and Lottie Parker; brothers, Earl, Lloyd, Donald, and Jesse Lee Parker; infant sister, Marlene Parker; infant grandson, Jess A. Seymour Jr.; and son, Jerry Seymour.
She is survived by her two sons, Jesse A. (Penny) Seymour and Morgan "Red" (Joyce) Seymour; grandchildren, Missy Seymour Parker (Curt), Shelly Seymour Dimitry (Tommy), Morgan "Red/Johnny" Seymour (Dixie), Chad Seymour (Catt), Clete Dinero (Diana), Kelly Newman, Joe Seymour, Michelle McDaniel, Stephanie Skiados and Steve Skiados, III; sister, Dorothy "Dot" Ellis (Bob); 23 great-grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
The Seymour family would like to extend a thank you to family and friends for all their love, thoughts and prayers; to Living Grace, Traditions Health Hospice Care, and St. Joseph Hospice for providing wonderful care and support to Granny (Gertie).
We would also like to express a special thank you to Granny's sister, Dorothy Ellis and her husband, Bob Ellis for always being there for granny in her time of needs throughout her years. No matter the time or day, Aunt Dot and Uncle Bob were always there for Granny, always being her guardian angles here on Earth. We love you Aunt Dot and Uncle Bob. We cannot thank you both enough.
