Brenda Kay (Fortney) Zimmerman, 69, of Waynesboro passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Choice Healthcare of Waynesboro surrounded by her family. Born November 19, 1952 in Waynesboro she was a daughter of Janette Elizabeth (Foley) Fortney and the late Earnest Duane Fortney, Jr.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rick Fortney; and significant other, Allen White.
Survivors include her mother, Janette (Foley) Fortney; children, Chrissy Bruce and husband, Ed of Waynesboro, Keith Almarode and wife, Gina of St. Paul, Va, Kevin Almarode and significant other, Marcia of Highland County, Va, and Taylor White of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Cierra Bruce, Jasmine Bruce, Trisha Bruce, Haley Almarode, Kacy Trent, Caleb Almarode, Zoe Gullett, Cooper Almarode, Abel Greene, Abbagail Greene, and Halo White; sisters, Wendy Fortney of Fishersville and Bev Manor and husband, Joe of Staunton; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Second Presbyterian Church, 133 N. Delphine Ave., Waynesboro with Rev. Caitlin Hoy officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. and other times at the home of her daughter, Chrissy. Masks are highly recommended and will be available at the church for the service.
