Betty G. Harrison, age 97, of Millsboro, passed away on August 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bethel, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Frank Nichols and Lena Hitchens Nichols. Betty retired from the State of Delaware as a program monitor for the Center. She loved attending Bethany Church at Lowes Crossroads for many years. She took great joy in gardening, cooking, attending church, playing bridge, and watching birds. Betty was a loving mother, wife, friend, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husband and father of her children William Wesley Johnson, Sr. (who passed in 1963), late husband Herman "Jack" Harrison (who passed in 2006), son Michael Johnson (who passed in 1970),
daughter Anne Johnson Ferguson (who passed in 2002), and her siblings Howard, Luetta, Joan, Evelyn, and Frances. She is survived by her sons, Stanley Johnson and his wife Sandra, William Wesley
Johnson and his wife Catherine; grandchildren, Sharon Johnson Drown (Lonnie), Thomas Johnson (Rebecca), Shawnna Ferguson (Mel), Kimberly Ferguson Finch, Heather Johnson Forsyth (Adam), Francis Desmond, James Desmond, Marti Whitley (Stephen); great-grandchildren, Shannon, Madilyn, Galen, Tighe, Iain, Nicholas, Lauren, Emma, Charlotte, Gavin, Mila, and great-great-granddaughter, Dilynn.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to her dear friends and neighbors Virginia and Harold Snead for all the kindness and care that they extended their mother throughout the years. All services will be held privately. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Funeral Home in Laurel, Delaware.
