BONAIRE –
Vernon Wesley "Vern" Wells, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, with his loving wife by his side. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Perry United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Carruth, Rev. Tommy Perkins, and Rev. Ben Hunley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranch, 5671 GA 122, Hahira, Georgia 31632, or Perry United Methodist Church, 1002 Carroll Street, Perry, Georgia 31069.

Vern was born in Warfield, Virginia, and was the son of the late Robert Lee and Pearl Louis Ozmar Wells. He graduated from Georgia Southern College and earned a degree in Criminal Justice. Vern moved to Houston County in 1966. After proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force, he later joined the Air National Guard and retired after thirty years of combined service. During his time in the Air National Guard, Vern was also employed as a Trooper with the Georgia State Patrol and retired after thirty years of service with the State of Georgia. Vern was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church and an active member of the Christadelphian Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Warner Robins Moose Lodge.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pauline Wells; four brothers; and a sister.

Left to cherish the memories they made with Vern are his loving wife, Rebecca "Becky" Deal of Bonaire; his children, Dorothy Hunley (Billy) of Bonaire, Beverly Fuller (Woody) of Byron, and Elizabeth Martin of Warner Robins; Becky's children, Brannon Deal of Statesboro and Starr Crist of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
