DONALD "BRUDDA" PHILLIP MCDANIEL, 65, of Kentwood, LA, passed away August 5, 2022. He was born on August 22, 1956, in Heidelberg, Germany, to E.P. and Kitty Sue Forbes McDaniel. Brudda was a typical military "brat" living in multiple places. He spent several years in Hixson, TN, where he enjoyed being part of the wrestling and pole-vaulting teams. He graduated from Valley Forge Academy in Kentwood, LA where he played football and baseball.
Brudda leaves behind a son, Christopher, daughter-in-law, Rachael, grandchildren, Jacob, Caleigh, Levi, and Asher all of Fort Worth, TX, siblings, Katera McMillan of Kentwood, LA, Susan Thornton of Tontitown, AR, and Nathan "Flip" McDaniel of Madison, AL, and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents E.P. and Kitty Sue McDaniel, grandparents Edward and Della McDaniel, Sr., Lexie Pierce, all of Kentwood, LA, and William "Pet" Forbes of Darbun, MS.
Brudda spent most of his adult life as a boilermaker out of Baton Rouge, LA. He was an active member of the Sons of the Confederacy, with local membership at Camp Moore. Brudda enjoyed taking his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews on a "walk-a-bout" on his home place, telling stories and wild tales. This always included each child having their own walking stick. Brudda was a kid at heart and loved spoiling the kids with a trip to the candy store. He also loved to talk about his family history and of times gone by.
Memorial services will be held at Greenlaw Baptist Church, in Kentwood, LA on Saturday, August 13, 2022, with Reverends Jay Avance and Harold Thornton officiating. A time of visiting with friends and family will be at 10:00 a.m. and the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, in charge of arrangements
