Born May 12, 1925, in Harlan, Kentucky, Ruth was the daughter of the late Jess W. and Elizabeth (Gross) Simpson. Ruth was a graduate of Loyall High School in Loyall, Kentucky.
On November 19, 1945, Ruth married her beloved husband, A. Ray Goins, in Monroe. Sadly, he preceded her in death on November 4, 2006, after almost 61 years of marriage.
Ruth was a wonderful homemaker and loved caring for her family. She also worked as a nurse's aid at The Lutheran Home for four years and at Monroe Convalescent Center for eight years. She attended Monroe First Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Wesleyan Missionary Society. She enjoyed gardening walking and time spent with family.
Ruth is survived by four loving children: A. Ray (Nancy) Goins, Jr. of LaSalle, MI, Ronnie "Hillbilly" (Barbara) Dophal of Williamsburg, KY, Elizabeth Ann (Bill) Thornhill of Lebanon, TN and Margaret Ann (Ernie) Goodman of Monroe, 8 cherished grandchildren and 17 cherished great-grandchildren and a treasured great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lee Goins, on February 12, 1977; 8 sisters and 3 brothers.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1-7 p.m. in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.; the Rev's. Paul Roemer and Troy Maiden will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
