Gary is also survived by his wife, Jonnie, and their daughters: Christian "Denie" Staley (Tyler) of Ormond Beach, and Erika Brammer (Tommy) of Daytona Beach, as well as his very much loved grandchildren: Greyson Brammer & Emma Grace Staley. Also, his sister-in-law Julie Wood Downey & husband Darwin Downey of Clearwater and Pam Smith of Apopka.
Gary graduated from Sharon High School (PA), and also graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business from Youngstown University. He worked in Law Enforcement for over 40 years, mainly in Washington, D.C., and with the Metro Transit Authority. He attended the FBI Academy at Quantico, Virginia.
Gary was a member of the National Fraternal Order of Police, the FBI National Academy Associates, and the local Ormond Moose Lodge.
Upon retirement from Washington, D.C., Gary moved to Ormond Beach, Florida and worked in security with Florida Health Care Plans for many years. He took real pride and joy in his Florida Health Care family & friends. His wife of nearly 21 years, Jonnie, and her daughters Erika (Tommy) and "Denie" (Tyler) were his life. He found his real joy in the grandchildren: Greyson and Emma. Nothing would light him up like his grandchildren.
Gary and Jonnie took over 42 cruises, and also several road trips across the country. He enjoyed his family & friends, traveling and playing cards with them.
In lieu of flowers, and also because Gary requested no service, donations in Gary's name would be most appreciated to: Halifax Hospice Ormond, 235 Booth Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
On August 13th, 2022, the family will take Gary on one final cruise, sailing with Dignity At Sea out of Ponce Inlet for Burial-at-Sea. Gary liked that idea.
Arrangments entrusted to Cardwell, Baggett & Summers Funeral Home of South Daytona, Florida.
