Scientific Popularizer and Journalist. Known as a television presenter, he was also a journalist, as well as an Italian science writer. His career began when he held the post of radio reporter until he got the role of correspondent. He was later hired as a host of the Rai news program. He achieved great fame as the creator and presenter of various popularization programs until he became a true icon in the documentary sector of Italian television. His intense career saw him engaged, in fact, in the role of science journalist. Son of Carlo Angela, an anti-fascist doctor, Piero often emphasized the rationality and tolerance transmitted by the father figure as a teaching tool. He himself claimed to have received a rather severe and rigid education. He also stated that he was particularly bored at school and that he was not a model student. He graduated from the classical high school in Turin. Piero Angela defined himself as an agnostic. At the age of seven he dedicated himself to the study of the piano and through this experience he discovered that he had a strong passion for jazz music, so much so that at the age of 20 he performed in some jam sessions in various clubs in Turin with the nickname Peter Angela. At the beginning of the fifties, Piero Angela gave birth to a jazz trio which was joined by several double bass players and soloists including Nini Rosso, Nunzio Rotondo and Rex Stewart. At that time he obtained the post in RAI and left the music scene to devote himself entirely to the world of journalism. Despite having moved away from musical activity, Piero Angela has never neglected his love for jazz, of which he has remained a strong supporter. He often took the opportunity to perform and play the piano alongside famous professional jazz players in TV Programs that dealt with the subject of music, conducted by Angela himself. Towards the end of the sixties, the host began making numerous documentaries entitled "Il futuro nello spazio", based on the theme of the Apollo program with the task of sending astronauts to the moon. Following this important turning point, the journalist started an intense scientific dissemination activity and in the following years became the producer of numerous scientific popular TV programss, including "Destinazione Uomo", "Dove va il Mondo?", "Nel cosmo alla ricerca della vita". With the arrival of the program "Quark" in the early eighties, a new turning point in Piero Angela's career takes place. The innovative program, created with various technological means and various television communication resources, immediately received positive feedback. In 2000, Piero and his son Alberto Angela produced "Ulysses", a program dedicated to various scientific and historical discoveries. In addition to her role as a science writer, Angela has also dedicated herself to publishing, collaborating with the "Scienza e Società" column for the weekly magazine "TV Sorrisi e Canzoni". Piero Angela has also played an important role in the world of writing, he wrote more than thirty books, many of which have been translated into English, Spanish and German.
