There were three funerals in the New Concord vicinity this week, two in New Concord and one at the McCuiston church which is near New Concord.
Two of the deceased, Albert Johnson Smith and Porter McCuiston, died in the New Concord community; the other, Mrs. Sallie Burton died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Adams, on Murray Route 6 but was buried at New Concord.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Burton were held at New Concord at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. H. L. Lax officiating. Burial was in the Concord cemetery.
Mrs. Burton died Saturday morning at 3 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Adams, Murray Route 6, after an illness of two weeks. She was 94 years of age and was a member of the Providence Methodist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Simmons and Mrs. Ella Adams; six sons, Leonard Burton of Los Angeles, Calif., Leslie Burton of Lawson, Okla., Cecil Burton of Paris, Tenn., S. T. Burton of Metropolis, Ill., and Ike and Elmo Burton, both of this county; and 30 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
