SCOTT ~ Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 2022 at a 12:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Word in Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro for Joseph "Cookie" Richard, age 60, who passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at his residence in Estherwood.
Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. Deacon David Menard will officiate at the services.
Mr. Richard was a native of Lafayette Parish and a resident of Estherwood. He enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, and working with his hand as a successful carpenter. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his companion, Patricia Stelly; one son, Andrew Stelly (Ashley); three daughters, Victoria Guillory (Dwight, Jr.), Veronica Delafosse (Daniel), and Abigail Stelly; five grandchildren, Haylee Fields, Dustin Guillory, Wyatt Stelly, Madison Stelly, and Brooklyn Stelly; one brother, Michael Bassler (Denise); six sisters, Rosa Mae Meche (Raye), Irene Meche, Doris Braus (Wayne), Sherry Leblanc (Wayne), Melissa Guidry (Byron) and Lisa Bernard (T-June); two sisters-in-law, Stella Richard and Karen Richard; and one brother-in-law, Terry Bernard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Effie Richard; three brothers, John Al Richard, Sr., Darrel James Richard, and Michael Wayne Richard; and two sisters, Brenda Hoback (Bobby, Sr.), and Cynthia Bernard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Friday until service time on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Guillory, Jr., J.R. Hoback, Jr., Andrew Stelly, Rocky Leblanc, Michael Bassler, and Austin Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Guillory, Daniel Delafosse, and Brandon Leger.
