Vernon Weldon Wells Sr.

Sept .13, 1934-Jan. 12, 2016, Age 81

Of Houston, Texas, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 12, 2016.

He was born in Cordele, Texas and grew up in nearby Edna, Texas where he later graduated from Edna High School.

He was a proud Veteran of the Korean War, spending two years in Japan.

Vernon had a 30-year career in sales with Lance, Inc. He worked hard but always had time for his three sons and their friends, coaching baseball and football in the Bellaire Recreation League.

Later in life, Vernon enjoyed square dancing with his wife and gained many friends while coordinating the Fairbees Square Dance Club of Houston, Texas.

Vernon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alberta and Herman Wells.

Vernon is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, 2 sisters, his three sons, his7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a memorial service at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home on Saturday, January 16 at 10:00 a.m. The family is asking in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Vernon's honor to the American Heart Association
