Connie Johnston, daughter of the late Medford and Ruby Bennett, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on December 3, 1942, and left this earth while residing at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 79.

Connie had lived in the Poplar Bluff and Puxico area all of her life. She worked at several medical facilities in Poplar Bluff in different vocations and retired as an LPN from Lucy Lee Hospital after more than 20 years of service there working with patients ranging from newborn to elderly. Connie was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. She enjoyed cooking, time with her family, and loved animals, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.

Surviving are her children Tara Hobbs Carpenter (Jim), Scott Johnston (Angela), Todd Johnston (Regina), all of Poplar Bluff, and Michelle Johnston of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren Lee Hobbs (Sarah), Ashley Arnold (Eric), Jordan Yager (Randy), Abigail Coffman (Lane), Ian Seth Johnston, Audrey Johnston, Alexa Cook, Lucy Cook, Tori Shaak-Johnston, Jaron Glass, Marina Johnston, Rhianna Johnston, and Gavin Mense; great-grandchildren Lauren Hobbs, Maddie Hobbs, Ava Hobbs, Bennett Lee Hobbs, Jackson Arnold, and Zoie Yager. Her brother, Leon Bennett (Wanda) and sister, Jerry Westerfield, also survive, as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces, and dear friends she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Paula Cozort.

A memorial visitation will begin at 1PM Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.

Interment will be held Saturday at the Poplar Bluff Cemetery with Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
