Obituary
Alice Marie Greer of Roanoke, Virginia was suddenly called home to her father in heaven on Sunday, May 15th, 2022, at the glorious age of 86.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles E. Greer; parents, John Allen Hodges, and Rosie Myrtle Dillon Hodges of Roanoke; Brother, William Thomas Hodges of Troutville; Sister, Betty Hodges Manning Simmons of Roanoke; beloved daughter, Kathy Lynn Greer; and her beloved son Steven E. Greer.
Most of us called this woman "Marie, "mom", or "Maw Maw". She was a light for us all and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was an extremely hard worker, dedicating many years to her work at Elizabeth Arden in Roanoke. After retiring, she continued to work part-time for Explore Park in Roanoke. She always loved meeting new people and never met a stranger. Talking about her family and loved ones was her favorite thing to do. She smiled with pride when talking about their accomplishments and anything going on in their lives. Marie was a devoted member of the Mayflower Hills Baptist Church in Roanoke, and gave all she could to her Christian family.
This wonderful woman is survived by her grandson, Jason E. Greer and wife, Ashley; her daughter-in law, Patsy K. Greer; granddaughters, Nikki Mayberry and husband, Greg; Maggie Blankenship, and husband Josh; grandchildren, great grandchildren, Angel Greer (Elijah); Jackson Greer, Sebastian Greer, Spencer Trivett, and Kinsley Trivett. She was also recently blessed with her first great, great grandchild, Kylynn Marie. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Figgat of Jacksonville, Florida; Marlene Garman of Roanoke, Margaret Garman (Larry); and several dear nieces and nephews whom she adored.
We cannot possibly put into words what this beautiful spirit of a woman meant to all of us. We were so blessed with her presence in our lives and will forever keep her memory in our hearts. We love you "Maw Maw".
The visitation will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton, Virginia on Thursday, May 19th at 11am, with funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon followed by graveside service at the Blue Ridge Gardens. Steve Hall of Mayflower Baptist Church will be officiating. Online condolences and a live stream of the service may be found at www.lotzfuneralhomevinton.com
