He was the fifth of seven children. He graduated from Chesterfield High School and attended the University of South Carolina. Frank settled in Monroe, NC, where he ran a Texaco Station at the corner of Roosevelt Boulevard and Sutherland Avenue (where Walgreens is today.) At this location, he proposed to Ruth Ellis. They were engaged for a week and married for 37 years. Ruth died in 1995. They had one daughter, Lou.

He became active in Alcoholics Anonymous and achieved 47 years of sobriety. Known to his AA friends as "Happy Frank," he enjoyed great fellowship in this group. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, USC Gamecocks, and the Carolina Panthers. He never rooted for the University of North Carolina. He was an avid reader of history and biography. He enjoyed 36 years of retirement which suited his easy-going temperament.
He dealt all his life with the effects of Polio at age two. He led an active life for many years and adjusted to the physical changes of his later years. His favorite saying was "Have a great day unless you have other plans."
He is survived by his daughter, Lou Hunley, of Wesley Chapel, NC, his sister, Betty Barrett of Laurinburg, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 27th at 11:00 am at The Church of the Redeemer in Indian Trail, NC. Miller Rivers Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield, S.C. will be in charge.
