Leah Maxine Beckett, 82, of Richmond, Ind., died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at her home. Born April 11, 1916, in Preble County, she was the daughter of Elmer and Effie (Creech) Bostick. She had lived in Richmond since 1938. Mrs. Beckett was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and the Richmond Senior Community Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ora Beckett, in 1990; a brother, Elmer Bostick; and a sister, Mary Helen Sizelove.

Survivors include one stepson, Raymond Lloyd Beckett of Fairhaven; two stepdaughters, Irma Fitzharris Coate of Palm Beach, Fla., and Betty Jean McNew of Richmond, Ind.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Bostick of Richmond, Ind.; nieces and nephews including Lucille Sheets of Richmond, Ind.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 18, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Chapel, Richmond, Ind., followed by burial in Fairhaven Cemetery (Preble County).
