This from a letter of W.H. Griswold, July 10, 1882
"Simon Griswold, son of the last mentioned Daniel was born at Kienworth[Kenilworth] Ct. in 1773, was married to Miss Rachel Willard at Fairfield, Herkimer co,NY in 1797. They had ten children, John, Aaron, Horatio, William Hurd, named after William Hurd, who married his father's sister, Alfred, Simeon, Sallie, Maria, Joseph, Lorenzo and James Hamilton all of whom have died except Aaron , William H., Lorenzo and Sallie Maria, 1882.

∼Simeon & Rachel (Willard)moved first to Fairfield, Herkimer,NY and about 1815 to Phelps, Ontario county,NY. Later they moved to Galen, Wayne,NY where he died 2 Oct 1831. Simeon was a farmer and esteemed by his contemporaries.
