Trent – John Henry Swinney, 93, died Thursday, October 28, 2004 in a local hospital. Services will be 3:00 p.m. today at Trent United Methodist Church with Reverend Ronnie Freeman and Dr. Rex L. Mauldin officiating. Burial will be in the Trent Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
John Henry was born July 1, 1911 in Wood County, TX to John Swinney and Lucy Hill Swinney. He married Beulah Harrison on November 10, 1935 at White Church in Taylor County. John was raised in Mulberry Canyon and lived in the Trent and Merkel area most of his life.
He was a member of the Trent United Methodist Church. John farmed for twenty-five years and worked for Aileen's. He was also caretaker for the Trent Cemetery for over twenty years. He loved to play dominoes.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah Swinney of Trent; 2 sons, J. B. Swinney and wife, Dayne of Lake Ivey, Johnny Swinney and wife, Janie of Midland; 1 daughter, Syra Patterson and husband, Jerry Frank of Trent; 1 brother, Pete Swinney of Merkel; 2 sisters, Ona Mae Masserang of Abernathy, Opal Patterson of Odessa; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jay Swinney, Kerry Patterson, Jon Chamberlain, Scott Adair, Billy Don Anderson and Colby Horn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Red & Doris Shafer, John Starkey, Orville Patterson and Dorothy Hughes.
