Merkel - J. W. Denney, 71, of Houston, who married his wife in Merkel, died Friday at his home.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Vogel officiating. Burial will be in Trent Cemetery.
Mr. Denney was born in Athens, Tex. and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Mary Ann Acuna in 1967 in Merkel and owned All Threads, Inc., a fastener company, in Houston. He was a member of the Aldine Bass Club.
Survivors include his wife of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
