Capt. Isaac Seymour, s. of John Seymour, 3rd and his 1st wife Lydia Mason, b. of record Oct. 10, 1713 at Hartford, Conn. where he was bapt. Oct. 13th at the Hartford 2nd Church. He d. intestate and insolvent Jan. 14, 1755 and was buried Jan. 16th at Hartford's Ancient Cemetery (Sexton Burial Rec.)

By 1747, Isaac m. the widow Agnes (Humphrey) Nichols, dau. of Nathaniel Humphrey and Agnes Spencer, bapt. of record Feb. 17, 1711/2 at the Hartford 2nd Church. She d. at Hartford of small pox Dec. 20, 1793 per the Hartford 1st Church records, but Dec. 29, 1793 per sexton records of Hartford's Ancient Cemetery (aka Center Cemetery) where she was interred. They had two children at Hartford, not three as claimed by Barbour in "Families of Early Hartford":

• i. Isaac Seymour, Jr., b. circa 1748, d. intestate at Hartford Aug. 2, 1781, Æ 34; m. as her 1st husband, Abigail Watson, by whom he had three children. Abigail m. 2) Abel Saunders and d. at Hartford Dec. 24, 1807, Æ 57.

• ii. Lydia Seymour, b. circa 1755, d. unmarried Oct. 5, 1778, age 23, and was bur. at Hartford's Ancient Cemetery as the "unnamed child" of the wid. Seymour. Barbour believed the wid. Seymour's "unnamed child" was a third child of the marriage. However, Lydia's paternal grandfather, John Seymour, Jr. of Hartford, wrote his will on July 11, 1758 in which he named as legatees my "grand children Isaac and Lydia of Hartford, children of my son Isaac, dec'd." Also, the estate of Lydia's father was declared insolvent with commissioner's appointed to settle accounts with the creditors. She is mentioned as living in the June 23, 1760 report of the commissioners regarding settlement of the deceased Isaac Seymour's debts with his creditors. By reasonable interpretation of the facts, Lydia was one and the same as Barbour's "unnamed" third child of Isaac Seymour bur. Oct. 5, 1778.
