Gary Thomas Snell, the son of Charles and Lorraine (McGrath) Snell, was born on Jan. 20, 1945, in Faribault. He attended Bethlehem Academy and graduated with the class of 1963. Following high school Gary attended St. Johns University in Collegeville, Minn. Gary served in the U.S. Army from March of 1968 to February 1971 during the Vietnam War, acting as a chaplains assistant. After his service time Gary graduated with honors from Florida State University in the area of criminal justice and also assisted with the FSU football program. He was employed by the Florida prison system as recreational director. Gary never lost interest in the FSU Seminoles and was always interested in their football program accomplishments. For many years he raised Rottweiler dogs as a hobby.
He is survived by his sister, Gretchen (and John) Pyburn of Green Valley, Ariz.; by his aunt, Betty Mealey of Faribault; by his uncle, Doug Snell of Faribault; by his niece, Shan Jasinski of Faribault; by his nephew, Jeff Bongers of Faribault; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
