Paulger - Brooks Wedding Solemnized At Guide Rock

On Sunday, November 14th, at the Methodist church (sic) in Guide Rock, in a candle light, double ring ceremony, Rev. C. F. Watters received the wedding vows which united in marriage Miss Kathleen Paulger and Neal Brooks. Mrs. Iva Paulger of Guide Rock, Charles Paulger of Igloo, South Dakota, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brooks of Guide Rock are the parents of the couple.

Mrs. Jack Felton of Red Cloud, cousin of the bride, played he wedding march and also accompanied "Chuck" Paulger, brother of the bride, who sang "I Love You Truly" and "Because."

The candle lighters were Claire Louise Simpson, niece of the bride, and Ruth Ann Armstrong, niece of the groom. Each wore floor length dresses of pale green taffeta. Their wrist corsages were pink and white carnations.

Nancy Lee Simpson, niece of the bride, was flower girl and was dressed in floor length pale green. She carried a bouquet of pink and white pom poms. Curtis Brumbaugh, nephew of the groom, carried the rings on a white satin, heart shaped pillow.

Mrs. Mary Ann Paulger, sister-in-law of the bride, as matron of honor, and Mrs. Nadine Michael as bridesmatron, wore identical floor length dresses of lavender taffeta with net over skirts and carried bouquets of pink and white carnations.

The bride given in marriage by her father wore a floor length gown of imported lace. The fitted bodice featured long fitted sleeves that tapered to a point at the wrist and a Queen Ann collar, with an insert of tulle in the yoke. The full skirt had three scalloped tiers of lace. The finger tip veil of tulle was held in place by a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

The groom and his attendants wore black trousers and white broadcloth dinner jackets as did the singer and the ring bearer. Each wore a red carnation boutonniere.

Neil Henry, as best man, and Garth Amack attended the groom. Ushers were Gene Brumbaugh and Dean Armstrong, brothers-in-law of the groom. They wore red carnation boutonnieres as did the fathers of the bride and groom.

The bride's mother wore lavender lace with black accessories and a corsage of white carnations. The groom's mother was dressed in changeable brown taffeta and also wore a corsage of white carnations.

A reception was held immediately following the ceremony in the American Legion Hall where brick ice cream, with wedding bell motif in lavender, and wedding cake were served to 200 relatives and friends.

Reva Giger had charge of the guest book.

The bride's sisters, Shirley Simpson and Mary Salisbury, had charge of the gifts.

Both the bride and groom graduated from the Guide Rock high school.

After a short honeymoon they left for their new home in Michigan where the groom will be stationed at Willow Run Air Base for the remaining two years of his enlistment. He just recently returned from 17 months spent in Alaska.
